âView in browserâ And other lies I've been telling myself ðŦĢ Not so long ago, a local event called all yogi's to join. A friend suggested we go, and I politely declined as I was not a yogi and would NOT fit in with everyone else. She looked at me with a surprised look ð Me, not a yogi?! Nope, I was adamant. I was not a yogi, far from even! At that point, she started laughing to the point that the tears were rolling down her cheeks, she believed I was very funny. Not sure what I said that made her cry with laughter ðĪ·ðžââïļ I always knew I have a great sense of humor but this... She then just wanted to confirm a couple of things with me:
With her last question, she wanted to make a point... and you still don't see yourself as a Yogi? Ok, then maybe I am ðĪŠ It is funny to realize the big difference between how people see you and how you see yourself. What standards was I using to define myself as a Yogi? Are there even any standards, besides the one we have made up in our mind? None, zero... it's not that you need to practice at least 4 times a week for at least half an hour. If there are standards, please let me know ð Do you have any idea what this is also called? Imposter Syndrome, meaning: doubting your abilities and feeling like a fraud. That was the only reason I would not go, I was doubting my abilities and feeling like a fraud. I realize now I was being ridiculous ð Maybe even more importantly, it made me think about other lies I've been telling myself. After some self-reflection, a couple of things came to the surface âĻ but I will not bother you with that today ð So, my question to you... what lies are YOU telling yourself Reader, how is that imposter syndrome showing up for you? Then ask someone in your inner circle how they see you on that topic. I'll tell you now, you'll be surprised ð And from now on, I AM, among other things, A YOGI ð§ð―ââïļ Sending you lots of love from South Africa P.S. Your journey to self-growth and discovery is an ongoing thing. Once you think you have figured it out there is something else coming up ð Please reach out if you have questions, I might not have all the answers but I'll do my best anyway ð P.P.S. View in browser If you had told me twenty years ago I would be typing this mail to you Reader, I would not have believed it myself. View in browser Don't you just love it Reader when people make something look very simple but more than often it is far from easy to get it done! Oh, Peggy, going for a 5K run, is very simple (advice from a marathon runner ð), just put one foot in front of the other, do this at a faster speed than walking, and just as long until you get your 5K done ð Until I put on my running shoes and hit that first uphill ðĨĩ It might be SIMPLE but NOT EASY! After the - it's simple for you to say - thought,...
